A 33-year- old man was arrested by members of the Lebombo Port Of Entry (POE) and K9 Unit on Tuesday 24 August 2021 during the night at Lebombo border post for transporting a large consignment of Crystal Meth.

Members of the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation in Mpumalanga were summoned to process the crime scene and take over the investigation.

It is alleged that the suspect was driving Toyota Truck from Mozambique to the Republic of South Africa when he was stopped by members at the border post to conduct a search.

During the search of the truck the dog reacted positively and members discovered a false compartment. Inside the false compartment, 48 containers with alleged Crystal Meth with an estimated value of R7.2 Million was found and seized.

The driver who was the only occupant, was arrested and he is expected to appear in the Komatipoort Magistrate Court on 25 August 2021.
