Corrupt 'control prosecutor' arrested, Evander

A former Control Prosecutor aged 36, is due to appear before the Evander Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, 8 April 2021. His court appearance stems from his failure to appear before court previously to answer on corrupt allegations levelled against him. His conduct of disregarding the court has led the Magistrate to issue a warrant for his arrest.

According to information, Mr Aron Pule Mohanwe was previously arrested on 28 July 2020, when he was charged with soliciting bribes from suspects in exchange for cases to be withdrawn or struck off from the court roll.

It is said that he was instructed to appear before court on several occasions but he failed to do so. In February 2021, the Magistrate finally took a decision that the man should be forced to come to court after showing disrespect to the court hence his arrest and appearance to face an additional charge of contempt of court.

The police management in the province has welcomed the developments in this case and hope that his arrest will serve as a lesson to others who might decide to emulate his conduct. People should know that the courts should be respected by all.
