MPUMALANGA – Mduduzi Stevin Mashwama (41) a sole Director of MPGMASH Trading CC, was released on R5000-00 bail during his court appearance at Nelspruit District Court on Friday, 18 August 2023 after he was arrested by the Hawks Nelspruit based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation for fraud and theft.
It is alleged that on 01 June 2011, the accused did unlawfully, falsely with the intent to defraud SARS, charged VAT amounting to R166 850.00 which was issued to the National Department of Rural Development and Land Reform while the company was not registered for VAT. The accused acted unlawfully by indicating the amount is due to the company. SARS suffered a prejudice to the amount of R166 850.00.
The matter was reported to the Hawks for investigation. The accused was linked to the crime and a warrant of arrest was authorised and executed. The case was postponed to 29 August 2023, for transfer to the Nelspruit Specialised Commercial Crime Court.
