Two more suspects were arrested after they were found hiding in the ceiling of the safe house. Three rifles, three vehicles, including a Mercedes Benz C class (reported hijacked in Akasia last month), a Golf 6 GTI (reported hijacked in Soshanguve last month) and a Ford Ranger (reported stolen in Krugersdorp in 2021 August), explosives and large quantities of ammunition were recovered from the scene.

The fourth vehicle, a Mercedes CLA is not positive but will be seized for being used in a commission of a crime as well as a Toyota Etios.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the arrested suspects is due to appear on the Westenburg Magistrates court on an unrelated case of cash in transit robbery.

The total number of suspects is eleven who will appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder, conspiracy to commit a crime, illegal possession of explosives as well as illegal possession firearms and ammunition.

During a multidisciplinary operation by the Hawks’ TOMS, Serious Organised Crime in Mpumalanga, the SAPS Airwing, K9, Flying Squad, Gauteng Traffic Saturation unit with assistance of Security companies arrested nine would-be CIT robbers following a high-speed chase and shootout.
