The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has commended members from Charl Cilliers and Perdekop after they collaborated and arrested a 29-year-old suspect for possession of a stolen vehicle and recovered the said vehicle on the morning of 17 March 2022 at Charl Cilliers.

According to the police report, members at Charl Cilliers received information about a stolen vehicle which was approaching their area. The police then made their way out to look for a vehicle matching the description given. They then spotted the vehicle which was cornered by the Perdekop police.

When the members from Charl Cilliers arrived at the spot to assist, the suspects fired shots and the members defended themselves, wounding one of the suspects while the other suspect managed to flee.

The suspect is currently under police guard in hospital and the police have launched a manhunt for the one at large. He is due to appear in court soon.
