Police in Mpumalanga are searching for three men who allegedly hijacked and shot a police officer on Tuesday, 27 July 2021, at Casteel in Acornhoek near Bushbuckridge.

According to information as reported, the victim, who is a Police Constable stationed at Bushbuckridge SAPS, was on his way home to prepare for his night shift duties when a white Toyota Tazz without registration numbers abruptly stopped in front of him. Suddenly, three suspects armed with a firearm, got out of their car and went straight to him. They pointed him with a firearm, dragged him out of his car and shot him in his lower body before putting him inside the boot of his car.

The suspects drove with him and later stopped at Shatale Village where they dropped him off in the street. They drove away in his private car which was later found left abandoned at Matsikitsane area in the bushes.

The Constable managed to get help from people and is currently in hospital receiving medical treatment. No arrest has been made as yet. Police investigations continue.

Police urge anyone with information that may assist them in tracing the whereabouts of the suspects who hijacked the member in Bushbuckridge to contact Detective Lieutenant Colonel Albert Manzini at 082 469 1031, or call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111.
