A 33-year-old man is expected to appear in court in connection with the murder of his brother whilst a 28-year-old man is appearing for attempted murder of his female partner.
Both are expected to appear at the Bushbuckridge Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 11 April 2023.
According to the report, on Saturday, 8 April 2023 information was shared with the authorities in Bushbuckridge indicating that there were two brothers who were engaged in a fight at Ga-Motibidi where one of them was stabbed.
The police and paramedics went to the scene and upon arrival they found a lifeless body of a man with stab wounds on the chest and at the back. The victim was unfortunately certified dead by the medical personnel.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the brothers had a fight where one of the brothers allegedly stabbed the other with a knife. The victim then succumbed to his injuries and the suspect fled the scene.
After a murder case was opened the suspect was arrested in Bushbuckridge on Sunday, 9 April 2023 hence his court appearance.
Meanwhile the police in Bushbuckridge received a report regarding a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds on the stomach and right hand and admitted to hospital. An attempted murder case was opened and during the investigation police discovered that the suspect was residing in Violetbank near Bushbuckridge.
The police followed details regarding the whereabouts of the suspect and cornered him at his residential place. Preliminary investigation suggests that the suspect (28) and the victim are a couple.
On that fateful Sunday, it is alleged that the two had an argument and the suspect allegedly shot the victim.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned violence as a way to resolve matters.
