A 26 year old man is facing the full might of the law following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s partially decomposed body buried in a shallow grave.
The body was discovered on the morning of 27 August 2017, by a man herding cattle in the veld at Manyeveni Trust, Kabokweni outside White River, after detecting a foul smell.
Upon investigation the man spotted something that resembled human body parts, protruding from under the ground and he immediately alerted the police.
At the scene, police confirmed that it was a body of a woman, who was later identified as Thembelihle Base, who had been reported as missing since 10 August 2017.
Information at police disposal reveals that the woman was last seen with the suspect the night before she disappeared, hence his arrest.
The suspect will make his first appearance at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on 29 August 2017, facing a charge of murder.
