Peet Swanepoel (51) was shot to death with his own shotgun in his yard in De Klerk street, Witbank on Wednesday morning 28 August 2019. This whilst 3 robbers were holding up his wife and grandchild inside the house.
Peet’s wife was seriously injured during the attack. The attackers threatened to put the couple’s 3 year old grandchild in the oven. The attackers were waiting for her when she arrived home, they tied up her hands behind her back and interrogated her.
One of the robbers switched on the oven and threatened to put the child in the oven. The child witnessed the violence and will need trauma counselling.
Peet arrived home and was walking around the house when he was shot to death with his own shotgun. The attackers then fled with a TV, household goods and a vehicle which was later found abandoned.
Police are investigating the robbery.
