Four suspects were arrested after members of the Nelspruit Flying Squad received information about a vehicle that was hijacked between Bethal and Secunda. The members reacted speedily with the assistance of Tracker, tracing the vehicle, a red Mazda, to a panel beater at Kabokweni, near White River.

Upon arrival at the said panel beater, the owner informed the police that the vehicle was brought by three men who requested the vehicle colour be changed from red to white. The man then led the police to the house of the first suspect, Lucky Ndlovu aged 30, who in turn provided information about the whereabouts of his accomplices, Kaneko Maziya and Sibusiso Ngwenya aged 27 and 30 respectively and they were swiftly nabbed.

All three suspects were then taken to the scene where the vehicle was recovered for verification, when police suddenly spotted blood stains on the seats. Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the owner of the car was allegedly shot and killed during the hijacking incident at Secunda and his body dumped at Morgenzon.

The suspects appeared at the Kabokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday 5 March 2019, for the hijacking case and were remanded in custody for a formal bail application on 19 March 2019. They are also expected to appear at the Standerton Magistrate’s Court on 8 March for the murder case.
