Police at KwaMhlanga are investigating the following cases: murder, burglary (residential) as well as possession of an unlicensed firearm. This comes about after a man stabbed to death an alleged intruder who had gained access into the house.
According to information at police disposal, it is alleged that the family was sleeping on Friday evening, 10 March 2017, when the 14-year-old son woke his father up and informed him that there was a knock at the door which sounded like someone tampering with it. When the father went to investigate, he came across an unknown man armed with a firearm in the TV room.The man allegedly pointed the firearm at him, firing several shots on the ground thereby, demanding money.
The victim told the man that the money was kept in his bedroom and they both proceeded to the bedroom. On their way, the suspect and the victim wrestled over the firearm and in the process, the victim called his son to come help him. The son is reported to have brought some knives with which they stabbed the suspect to death.
A revolver with live rounds was recovered at the scene as well as knives that were handed in for further investigation. Police are profiling the deceased suspect to ascertain whether was he not involved in other cases before his death.
