Police seek information that could lead to the arrest of suspect(s) responsible for the death of 14 year old Mihle Zingamo from Embalenhle near Secunda.

Information at police disposal revealed that on Wednesday 7 November 2018, Mihle accompanied her elderly sister to a local salon. She allegedly left her sister and went home after she complained of hunger but never reached home. On the same day at approximately 19:45, her father reported her missing at the local police station.

An intensive search for her was then launched in conjunction with the community members and Sector Crime Forum. However, her body was later found dumped on the street at Extension 17 in Embalenhle with her hands and feet tied.

This is not the first incident wherein a child is raped and killed at Embalenhle.

On Monday, 7 May 2018, 11 year old Lerato Nkutha was sent to a nearby shop and her mother became worried when she took too long. She went looking for her with no success and she then reported the matter to the police who opened a missing person’s inquiry.

A search which consisted of Detectives, K9 Unit as well as Police Divers was instituted immediately and it continued until late on Tuesday, 08 May 2018, but with no success.

On 9 May 2018, at approximately 06:30, police were summoned to a certain house, where a body of a minor was spotted. A short probe by police revealed that the lifeless body was that of missing Lerato.

Anyone with information that could assist police in the investigation and the arrest of the suspect/s in both incidents, is urged to contact Detective Captain Sakhile Simon Mlotshwa at 082 970 5774 or call the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
