Audit reports from the Lydenburg municipality show that officials stole more than R380 million over a period of seven years.
The municipality has not received a clean audit report in ten consecutive years.
Law firms received R3.5 million in 2015 for legal work. George Fivaz forensic team was paid R840 000 to investigate cable theft without the necessary procedure being followed and no results were obtained.
Political analysts describe the municipality as the cash cow of senior ANC leaders as nothing has been done about various complaints while several other municipalities were placed under administration.
