Police management in the Mpumalanga province hereby applaud cooperation by the community for not taking the law into their own hands when dealing with criminals.
This came after a 38-year-old man was arrested yesterday at approximately 10:00 for raping a 4-year-old girl in a shack at the informal settlement in Standerton. The man was arrested and will appear before the Standerton Magistrate’s Court today facing a charge of rape.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old Mohau Malope was handed a life sentence for murder and a 10-year jail sentence for rape by the Mhala Regional Court on 21 September 2016.
Police management are making an appeal to other communities not to take the law into their own hands but to report and hand over perpetrators to the police.
