3 Suspects escape from holding cells, Acornhoek

Three of the four suspects had their unlawful way out of lawful detention when they used the small window at the back of the awaiting holding cell in Acornhoek on Wednesday 22 February 2023 at about 17:30.

According to the report, the suspects aged 20 and 24 were supposed to be taken to the holding cells when they were temporarily placed in the awaiting cells during the shift change.

When members went to the awaiting holding cells to remove them, only one suspect was left.

Investigation revealed that Ludwick Molobela (20), who is suspected of copper theft, Suprise Maluleke and Menley Sithole both aged 24 and both suspects on assault with intention to do grievous bodily harm escaped through a small window from the awaiting cell.

Police can guarantee that all information received will be treated with strict confidentiality.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela was disturbed by the manner in which these suspects gained their unlawful freedom and promised that police will not rest until the three escapees are re-arrested.
