3 Arrested with unlicensed firearm, Bushbuckridge

On Thursday, 7 October 2021, SAPS members from Ehlanzeni District, in collaboration with their counterparts from Calcutta Police Station were hard at work in Bushbuckridge area after receiving information about suspects driving a Toyota Corolla and in possession of unlicensed firearm.

The members spotted the vehicle, which matched the description as provided and it was parked at College View in Bushbuckridge. There were three occupants in the vehicle and upon searching, police found a firearm whereby the trio failed to produce a license hence they were arrested and charged for illegal possession of a firearm.

The three suspects, aged between 23 and 36 are expected to appear before the Bushbuckridge Magistrate’s Court on 8 October 2021.

The Provincial Commissioner was pleased with the performance displayed by members as they reacted swiftly in both incidents which resulted in the arrest of suspects whilst ensuring that they are brought to book.
