Two suspects, a man (39) and woman (37), were intercepted during a stop and search operation executed by the Hawks Nelspruit based Commercial Crime Investigation, SAPS Komatipoort and Customs on Wednesday, 1 March 2023 for illegal possession of Counterfeit goods at the Lebombo Port of entry, driving with a Freightliner truck.
While the team was engaged on the specialised stop and search operation, they stopped a truck with a male driver and a female passenger who were driving from Mozambique to the Republic of South Africa.
Upon the search in the truck, they found counterfeit goods with estimated street value of R 800 000-00.
The truck and trailers were confiscated and taken to the Customs Warehouse at Komatipoort for safe keeping due to the proceeds of a crime.
The Counterfeit Goods were also taken to the warehouse and counted in.
The suspects are detained pending their first appearance at Komatipoort Magistrate Court on Friday, 3 March 2023. Investigation continues.
