A brazen early-morning robbery at a fuel station in Greylingstad turned deadly today, 29 May 2025, when a security guard was fatally shot during the violent heist.

The incident occurred at approximately 01:15 am, when 15 heavily armed suspects, clad in masks and gloves, stormed the premises and held employees at gunpoint. The assailants targeted the Drop Safe on the property, using explosives to blast it open and steal an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing.

During the robbery, the suspects fired multiple shots indiscriminately, tragically killing one of two security guards who were patrolling near the railway line at the time. The second guard managed to escape unharmed.

In addition, the attackers shot at a bakkie belonging to the security personnel. Fortunately, the driver was able to avoid further harm by swiftly driving away from the scene amid the chaos.
