Eleven suspects aged between 25 and 48 years were arrested for possession of suspected house-breaking implements, unlicensed firearm and ammunitions.

The suspects, nine South African males, one Malawian male and one South African female, were found at Meyerville in Standerton on Thursday 20 October 2022.

Information was received about the suspects and an operation consisting of a number of police disciplines and private security was put in place.

Late at night, the security forces headed to the house and a search was conducted.

As a result of the operation, two vehicles suspected to be on the commission of crime plan, a firearm with six live rounds of ammunitions and suspected house-breaking implements including a crowbar, iron rod, corrugated iron cutter, side cutter and 16 mobile phones were confiscated.

Other items including, hand gloves, set of overalls, construction reflector jackets were also found with the suspects.

They were all arrested and charged for possession of suspected house breaking implements, possession of firearm and ammunitions.

All items were seized for further investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed that the vehicles belongs to the suspects, but were also seized for further investigation to establish if they were not involved in the commission of other crimes.

The suspects are expected to appear before Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 24 October 2022.

Police cannot rule out the possibilities of adding more charges and the Contravening of Immigration Act for the foreign national.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has credited the collaborative effort displayed by members of South African Police Services and private security companies in disrupting one of the high priority crimes and further commended the whistle blower for providing a positive information.
