A South African National Defence Force (SANDF) member was attacked and robbed on the toll road near Louisiana last Saturday.
The 36-year-old man was en route to Matatiele, Eastern Cape with his family when their car broke down. “While waiting for a mechanic he got out of the vehicle to get some fresh air at about 3am, leaving his family sleeping in the car,” said police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Zandra Wiid.
“Soon after he got out he was attacked by three men. The SANDF member was armed with his private firearm and tried to fight them off. He was stabbed in the head during the struggle and the attackers fled with his firearm, a 9mm Star pistol, wallet and cellphone,” said Lt-Col Wiid…
