More maize is being exported

Die Vryburger

The export of maize increased sharply in the past three weeks after Taiwan placed a substantial order for the South African quality maize.

A second country also placed a large order, the northern state on the continent, Kenya, who are struggling with a drought.

The largest amount of white maize, about 113,000 tons have already been exported at the end of June

100 000 Tons of yellow maize sent to Taiwan since the middle of June to the end of that month, brings the total exports to that country to 161000 tons.

During the same period, more than 50 000 tons were exported to South Korea.

With the possibility of another Al Nino weather pattern that is expected for the new rainy season, there is concern that maize exports may have been granted too quickly.
