The former ANC treasurer general and currently minister of co operative government and traditional affairs is currently involved in a lawsuit involving a “bribe” promised for a loan of R210 million to Afric Oil by PIC.

A law firm is now claiming payment on behalf of Zonkizizwe Investments for their “share” in the agreement, which had been fully discussed and finalized in Luthuli House.

The “facilitation fee”, of R4.5 million would go to Zweli Mkhize and the rest to Zonkizizwe Investments, which is owned by the ANC.

Despite serious denials by Mkhize, his predecessor, Mathews Phosa, confirmed Zonkizizwe ties with the ANC and confirmed several ANC members were at the meeting at Luthuli House.

The sensitive nature of the negotiations resulted in all negotiations being oral and in good faith. It appears that such transactions according to “tradition” are very acceptable.
