During the early hours of September 21, 2015 Drift Reaction received a panic signal from a complex in Van Standen Street Wilgeheuwel, Roodepoort.
They also received a call for assistance on Whatsapp by another resident from a different complex in the same area who reported that she saw four suspicious men.
The Drift Reaction Iron Fist Squad was in the vicinity and arrived in about one minute. They found a wounded resident who was shot in his chin. The resident reported that he heard strange noises where his car was parked and decided to investigate. While making his way down the stairs, he was confronted by two unknown men.
He turned around and ran back to his unit and shut the security gate. One of the suspects fired a shot in his direction. The bullet struck the security gate, reflected and lodged in his chin.
The security gate saved his life as the suspect aimed at his chest area. The Iron Fist men dispatched ER24 as well as the SAPS to the scene. The victim should make a full recovery.
The suspects gained entry into the complex by bridging the electric fence with sticks. According to Drift Reaction it is suspected that this was the same suspects as reported by the resident from the other complex.
