Man shot at home in Durban carjacking

A Mobeni Heights man was shot and wounded by hijackers who confronted him at his home early on Thursday morning.

As the 22-year-old was reversing out of the driveway at his Tritonia Crescent home, two men brandishing handguns appeared at his window, police spokesperson Major Thulani Zwane said.

After demanding his keys, shots rang out and the man was hit in the ankle.

“He was confronted by two suspects at gunpoint who demanded that he hand over car keys.”

“They opened fire, wounding the victim on his ankle. They took the vehicle and fled the scene, but it was later found abandoned in Umlazi next to Wema hostel,” Zwane said.

“A case of carjacking and attempted murder was opened at Bayview police station but no arrestsĀ haveĀ been made.”
