Lyttelton suspect escapes, stolen car recovered

On Wednesday morning at about 06:50 a call was received on the Kloosig Radio On Call (KROC) radio network regarding a trespasser in van Riebeeck ave.

It was mentioned that the trespasser was armed with a pistol. Members from KROC responded to the scene and the suspect started jumping walls towards Hans Strijdom ave. The suspect was then spotted at a premises in Hans Strijdom Ave.

The suspect was lost at this point. Moments later it was reported that a vehicle has been robbed at gun point at at another premises in Hans Strijdom ave. The owner was surprised by the suspect while she was in the washing room outside the house. The suspect took her inside the house and made the owners sit on the couch in the lounge and demanded the vehicle keys. The suspect fled with the vehicle and cell phones.

Monitor Net R01 responded to the call and provided assistance at the scene.

The account details from the stolen phones were obtained from the owners and with their permission a trace was initiated on the stolen cell phones. The cell phones were traced to Thembisa, then Edenvale and finally to Alexandra. With assitance from Orange Fox Security a whole network was activated to follow up on the trace. With regular updates from LS2 CPF regarding the trace, members from SAPS and vehicle recovery companies were kept informed regarding the trace and they responded to Alexandra were they recovered the stolen vehicle. Unfortunately the suspect was not apprehended.
