45-year-old Gillian Foster is still at home recuperating after being seriously injured in an attack at the Bothania Hills resort outside Mookgophong earlier this year. Her attacker, Boiki Motaung (25), was sentenced to 14 years, of which two years will be jointly served.

The Post reported earlier this year that on Sunday, March 13, Foster was attacked with a hammer. It was apparently after an internal dispute or argument between Foster and Motaung. Foster spent weeks in the hospital and had to undergo more than one operation.

The fast performance of ao. Barend van Wyk police of Mookgophong, who also led the investigation, and Gary Louwrens of the Heritage Protection Group (HPG), resulted in the arrest of Motaung on 16 March. Foster’s stolen Fiat Palio was also recovered. The accused was identified at the crime scene also admitted that he attacked Foster.

Foster, who manages the resort at the time, asked her attacker to stay behind after all the other workers returned home. A dispute apparently arose, and the reason is vague. The police would not comment.

Van Wyk’s statement said that Foster apparently had asked Motaung to drive her car as she was to go somewhere because she could not drive her own car.

On Friday, June 17 Magistrate Gerhard Pretorius in the regional Court of Mokopane, sentence Motaung to eight years in prison for attempted murder and a further six years for theft. His sentence will be served without the option of parole and two years of the penalty will be jointly served.
