Woman arrested with firearms stash, stolen vehicle, Tzaneen

The collaborative efforts by members of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, in dealing with incidents of violent and serious crimes, keep producing meaningful results.

In the Tzaneen Cluster, a 25 year old woman was arrested in the early hours of 28 September 2019, after she was found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and a suspected stolen motor vehicle. The members of Tzaneen Crime Intelligence and Tracking Team Unit, promptly followed information about the existence of a stolen motor vehicle at Thabina Village.

These Police Units spotted the said vehicle at the suspect’s house and she was immediately arrested. Police conducted their investigations inside the house and recovered the following firearms and other items:

Two rifles
111 R5 live ammunition
0ne 9mm live ammunition|
Two balaclavas
One security bullet vest
Two rifle magazines
One motor vehicle

The Preliminary investigations revealed that the vehicle was reported stolen at SAPS Tubatse earlier this month.

The suspect will soon appear before the Tzaneen Magistrate’s Court on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and possession of suspected stolen properties.

All recovered firearms will be subjected to ballistic investigations to determine their possible involvement in violent crimes.

Police investigations are still continuing.
