The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has activated the appropriate resources within the Province to trace and apprehend suspects responsible for kidnapping of Burgersfort well-known businessman.
It is reported that the business man was at one of his filling stations when the incident occurred in Burgersfort on Friday 2 June 2023, at about 19:30
According to the information available at this stage the taxi driver was confronted and pointed with a firearm by unknown male suspect who demanded car keys while the five unknown male suspects accosted the business man and subsequently forced him into a black VW Golf 7 GTI unknown Registration and drove away with him followed by a white Mercedes Benz Registration No 786 AGM L.
In another incident unknown male suspects who pretended to be the police in the same area went to a rental house and hijacked a black Mercedes Benz from a tenant at gunpoint.
Police were notified of these Incidents. The police reported that the earliest stage of the investigations came up with a recovery of hijacked Silver Mercedes Benz abandoned around Bothashoek village and a rifle LM 5 with twenty five live ammunitions dropped in the bushes.
A team comprising members of the Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with the Station Detectives as well as members of the Crime Intelligence Unit are hard on the heels of the suspects and are also investigating cases of Kidnapping, pointing of firearm and car hijacking as well as impersonating a police officer.
