Water crisis in Thabazimbi: FF Plus lodges complaints with HRC and COGTA

The water crisis plaguing the Thabazimbi Local Municipality (Thabazimbi and Northam) cannot continue indefinitely and action must be taken.

So, the FF Plus lodged a complaint with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) and Limpopo’s MEC for Cooperative Governance (COGTA), Mr Baisikopo Makamu.

The residents of Thabazimbi, Regorogile and Northam have been without a drop of water since the long weekend.

In the letter to the MEC, the FF Plus reminded him of the promise he made last year (8 December 2022) during his visit when he undertook to send an assessment team to look into the water crisis. Nothing has come of it.

The party implored the MEC to intervene before service delivery totally collapses.

The HRC was also requested to act and see to it that the Municipality complies with the relevant legislation to supply potable water.

The Municipality’s actions, or rather lack thereof, have resulted in serious water outages.

Thus far, no steps have been taken to ensure that residents are supplied with water on a regular basis.

Without water, proper sanitation also becomes a problem, which poses serious health risks to residents.

The FF Plus will keep fighting for residents’ basic rights.

Thabazimbi deserves better than the ANC.
