A Dedicated Task Team compromising of various Police Units has been established following a cash in transit heist that occurred in the Motetema Policing area outside Groblersdal on the night of 12 February 2018.

It is alleged that two cash in transit Security Guards were travelling along Ramogwera road and when they approached a speed hump, two vehicles, a white Ford ranger single cab and a silver X-Trail attacked them where the occupants started shooting at these Security vehicles, injuring the driver in the leg and causing the vehicle to swerve off the road after which the driver lost control and it came to a standstill on the side.

This gang of about 11 suspects armed with rifles then pounced on the vehicle and attempted to open it. When the vehicle couldn’t open, they instructed the occupants to lie down where they were disarmed of their service pistols.

The suspects then bombed the vehicle with explosives and managed to take an undisclosed amount of money before they fled the scene.

Police were notified and reacted swiftly to the scene which led to the arrest of one suspect who is estimated to be in his 20’s and an undisclosed amount of cash was also recovered.

The arrested suspect will appear before Motetema Magistrate’s Court soon on various charges including armed robbery.

The Police investigations are still continuing.

Anyone with information which can lead to the arrest of this remaining notorious suspects, may contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211 or the nearest Police Station.
