In the Bolobedu Policing area, Police arrested two suspects for rape, allegedly after two women aged 18 and 21 were raped at gunpoint on Friday night 12 April 2019.
It is alleged that the victims came across the suspects at Shawela cross, one suspect fired a shot towards their direction, threatening the victims. The duo then dragged the two women into the nearby bushes, where they both raped them and fled the scene.
After the ordeal, the two victims managed to run to the nearby village for assistance. Community members responded in large numbers and hunted down the rapists until they caught them. Police were notified and they swiftly responded.
The two suspects aged 21 and 23 were then arrested. One firearm, magazine, ammunition and two cell phones were recovered.
The suspects will soon appear before the Bolobedu magistrate court.
