A Warrant Officer (50), and a Constable (35), stationed at SAPS Mokopane were arrested for alleged corruption by the Hawks’ Serious Corruption Investigation Unit on Tuesday, April 3, 2018.

The pair allegedly arrested a foreign national on Tuesday afternoon for being undocumented and they reportedly demanded R500 bribe for his release.

The complainant who was allegedly locked at the back of the police van phoned his relative to ask for the money. The matter was brought to the Hawks’ attention and an entrapment operation was carried out, resulting in the arrest after they accepted the bribe.

They are expected to appear at the Mokopane Magistrate’s Court on April 5 to face charges relating to corruption.
