The South African Police Service in this Province is still determined to fight all serious and violent crimes head on by ensuring that perpetrators involved are removed from our streets for life.

The Polokwane High Court has sentenced two accused on a murder and conspiracy to commit murder case heavily.

On 22 March 2013, a former medical nurse, Mokibelo Charles Lebepe from Lebowakgomo Zone “A” who was attached to Thabamoopo Hospital was found killed with multiple stab wounds throughout his body at the local sports ground in Lebowakgomo Zone “R”.

The police’s successful investigations led to the deceased’s wife Setibane Geneva Lebepe aged 49 and her accomplice Laurence Tlou Malete aged 53 from Seshego Zone 1 near Polokwane who were arrested.

The accomplice is a mistress to the deceased’s wife who agreed to kill the deceased for the upfront payment of R100 000 who indeed executed the mission.

They were both sentenced to an effective life imprisonment for murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

The Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Nneke Ledwaba has applauded the Lebowakgomo Team of Detectives who were involved in the investigations of this incident which shows dedication, passion and professionalism by the police to our communities in the fight against crime especially planned or organized crimes.

“We hope that this sentence will serve as a deterrent to all the murderers out there to cease their dirty work. We will deal mercilessly and without compromise with this heinous behavior, concluded General Ledwaba.
