Two suspects, aged 26 and 31, have been arrested in connection with a double murder that occurred at a tavern in the Groblersdal policing area.

The arrests were carried out by a joint operational team comprising members of the Provincial Murder and Robbery Unit, Mopani Flying Squad, Mopani Tracking Team, and Tzaneen Tactical Response Team (TRT).

The incident under investigation took place during the early hours of 27 February 2026, when two men were fatally shot at a tavern within the Groblersdal policing area. A case docket comprising two counts of murder was subsequently registered at Groblersdal SAPS.

Following intensive investigative work, the two suspects were apprehended in the early hours of Friday, 29 May 2026, at Mariveni Village, which falls under the Ritavi policing area.

The suspects are scheduled to appear before the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 01 June 2026, to face two formal charges of murder.

Police have confirmed that investigations remain ongoing as authorities continue to build the case for prosecution.
