Two male suspects, aged 31 and 38, are set to appear before the Dzanani Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 21 October 2025. This follows their arrest this past Saturday for being in possession of a suspected stolen goat.

The arrest occurred at approximately 17:00 on Saturday, 18 October 2025, during a routine police patrol along the R523 road in the Siloam policing area, Vhembe District. The operation was initiated after police received a tip-off regarding a white panel van that was allegedly transporting stolen livestock.

According to police reports, officers on patrol spotted the vehicle travelling from Dzanani towards Siloam. The van was stopped, and the two male occupants were subjected to a search.

During the search, officers discovered one goat, tied with a rope, in the back of the vehicle. The suspects could not provide a satisfactory explanation for their possession of the animal. Their alleged actions are in contravention of Section 6 and Section 8 of the Stock Theft Act.

The goat, with an estimated value of R2,000.00, was seized by the police. Both suspects were arrested on the spot and have been charged with possession of suspected stolen livestock.
