Two people were left injured last night, one of them critically, following a cash-in-transit heist on the R36 between Modjadjiskloof and Tzaneen in Limpopo.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at 18h50 to find another service already in attendance. A wrecked cash-in-transit vehicle was found on the side of the road.

Upon closer inspection paramedics found another service treating a male security member. Assessments showed that the man had sustained numerous injuries, leaving him in a critical condition.

A second man, believed to be a bystander, had sustained a gunshot wound to his leg.

Paramedics treated both men and provided the critically injured man with advanced life support interventions.

Once treated, the men were transported to a private hospital in Tzaneen for further treatment.

The local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
