The SAPS Station Commander of Seshego, Brigadier Lucas Tlhako together with the Social Crime Prevention Commander, Captain Baloyi, the Station Communication Officer, Constable Maluleke and the Community Police Forum Chairperson, Mr PJ Sepale have today conducted a outreach program in Mmotong village outside Seshego.

In attendance were the Polokwane Municipal Councilor Moakamedi from Mmotong village, the Traditional Healers Organization and the newly initiated healers who came in large numbers for certification of their success after being trained as traditional healers.

The District Chairperson, Mrs Boshomane addressed the masses with health issues and cautioned the healers not to interfere with medical prescriptions. She advised them to never attempt to treat communicable diseases such as diabetes, HIV and high blood pressure.

They must also stop giving traditional medicine (Muti) to criminals in order to evade arrest while committing crimes.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) Chairperson, Mr Sepale also a traditional healer, has strongly condemned the traditional healers who practice for money but not as a calling. It was established that medical certificates are sold for cash since they are submitted at the workplace to the employers.

Brigadier Thlako concluded the campaign by encouraging the traditional healers to report those who will tempt them with money and require the services that are illegal. He voiced collaboration between the police and community in the eradication of crime in their vicinity.

Brigadier Thlako congratulated the newly trained healers who were issued with Certificates of Approval as Traditional Healers and Identification Books to be registered as Practitioners including equipment to be used during the healing sessions.
