The Dedicated Joint Task Team comprised of Crime Intelligence Unit, the Provincial Detectives, the Organised Crime Unit and the Tactical Response Team conducted a sting operation which led to the arrest of three suspects aged between 24 and 35.

The preliminary Police investigations have since revealed that one of the arrested suspects is an alleged serial rapist.

The arrest of these three men follows a well coordinated investigation that has started in 2011 until now when the 24 year old alleged serial rapist and his accomplices were arrested. They are believed to be behind a series of rape crimes and serious and violent crimes that were reported in the Dennilton policing area outside Groblersdal in the Limpopo Province including in some parts of Gauteng Province.

The suspects’ modus operandi was to pounce on unsuspecting women before robbing and raping them at gunpoint. The 24 year old suspect was joined by the other two suspects during some incidents and they are now linked to 21 cases of rape and several cases of armed, house and business robberies.

During this arrest, the following items were recovered: 1 x 9mm pistol, 5 x rounds of ammunition, 1 x Magazine and 1 x Holster.

The suspects will make their first court appearance before the Moutse Magistrate’s Court on Thursday 2018-08-02.

Police investigations are still continuing.

The Provincial Commissioner of Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba has commended the police members for their collaborative efforts in apprehending the suspects
