LIMPOPO – Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the murder of a security guard and a business robbery at a plot in Berlin Farm, within the Letsitele policing area of Limpopo. The swift law enforcement action also resulted in the successful recovery of the stolen equipment, marking a critical breakthrough in the intensive investigation.
Police officers responded to a complaint on Monday, 13 July 2026, at approximately 09:25. Upon arrival at the scene, investigators discovered the body of a 79-year-old security guard lying on the ground. Emergency Medical Services personnel examined the victim and officially certified him deceased at the scene. Preliminary observations indicated that the deceased’s hands and feet had been bound with white cable ties.
Initial investigative findings established that a business robbery occurred in conjunction with the fatal attack. A blue 10.5-horsepower three-phase diesel generator, valued at approximately R56,000, was forcibly removed from the premises after being detached from a heavy chain and padlock used to secure it.
Following a coordinated and intensive investigative effort, authorities apprehended three suspects, ranging in age from 20 to 26. As a direct result of these police operations, the stolen generator was successfully located and recovered.
The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Major General Jan Scheepers, commended the involved investigative teams for their swift response, highly coordinated efforts, and the successful recovery of the stolen property.
The three suspects are expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate’s Court in the near future to face formal charges of murder and business robbery. Police investigations into the matter remain ongoing.
