The Police in Witpoort outside Lephalale (Ellisras) have launched a massive manhunt for the three awaiting trial prisoners who escaped from the police holding cells on Thursday, 14 March 2019.

The preliminary police investigations indicated that these prisoners cut the roof of the exercise room and escaped.
The escapees were identified as Jeremiah Mochongo aged 34, Lovemore Onward Morera aged 35 and Innocent Khumalo aged 43.

They were arrested for murder.

The circumstances around this escaping incident are still being investigated.
