Police in Thohoyandou, under the Vhembe District, have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of his 20-year-old brother. The victim succumbed to his injuries at Donald Frazer Hospital on Sunday, 10 August 2025, at approximately 09:00.
According to authorities, police were called to the hospital after medical staff reported the presence of a lifeless body with a stab wound. Upon arrival, officers were shown the deceased, who had sustained severe injuries to the head.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspect and the victim were involved in a physical altercation, during which the younger brother was stabbed. Following the incident, the suspect reportedly took the victim to the hospital, where he later died from his injuries.
The 24-year-old suspect was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear before the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 11 August 2025, to face a charge of murder.
Police investigations into the matter are ongoing.
