Theft of electrical cables at the Lebowakgomo legislative premises, 2 arrested

The Police in Lebowakgomo have arrested two suspects in connection with the theft of electrical cables at the Provincial Legislative premises in Lebowakgomo on Saturday, 25 March 2023 at around 10:30.

It is alleged that the security guards were patrolling the premises when they found a number suspects busy digging electrical cables.

The suspects reportedly fled in different directions when noticing the security guards. Two of the suspects were cornered and apprehended.

Police were immediately alerted and on arrival they found two suspects, searched them and found spades, spanners, and piks as well as the stolen electrical cables of an estimated street value of R4000-00.

The suspects were then handed over to the Police.

The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commends the Police for swift reaction and arresting the suspects and further praised the security guards for their alertness and subsequently notifying the Police.

The suspects, aged 37 and 44, will appear in Lebowakgomo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 27 March 2023 for theft of electrical cables.
