Advanced Amid (30) and Casper Mudau (35) have appeared in the magistrates court in Polokwane, Limpopo. They are accused of abducting Lizette Deacon (55) and her mother Hettie Deacon (79) from their townhouse in Welgelegen, Polokwane last Thursday, transporting them in their own car, stabbing them with knives and dumping their bodies next to the road.
The bodies of Hettie and Lizette were found with hands bound with cable ties and rags tied around their heads. Lizette owned the Ocean Basket restaurants in the Savannah Mall and the Mall of the North. Hettie still helped her with the management of the restaurants.
Ex colonel Gawie Louwrens of Bosveld Misdaad Ondersoeke assisted the Police in making the arrests. Thank you to Colonel Louwrens and the other policemen involved for their excellent investigation work and long hours put in to make sure these barbarians are arrested.
A special request is made for people to take more note of their surroundings and regard the safety of neighbours as important as your own, so that they can do the same for you.
These two women were taken from their own home, from a place where a lot of other people lived, from amongst their neighbours. Did nobody see anything or heard anything which could have prevented such an unspeakable crime?
Are we all going to sit on our couches and see and hear nothing until it is our time to face heartless attackers and their knives and guns?
Have we become so wrapped in our own lives that we don’t know what is happening around us?
