Taxi owner murders, SAPS rewards for information now at R1 million

As part of ongoing investigations of serious cases in the Thohoyandou Cluster, the Police in Limpopo are once more offering a reward of up to two hundred and fifty thousand Rand (R250 000.00) for any valuable information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for the murder of another taxi owner at Manini village outside Thohoyandou.

It is alleged that a 49 year old man, Tshishonga Peter Nthabelene, a taxi owner and the Secretary of the Long Taxi Association in Vhembe, was on 9 August 2018, at about 14:30 shot and killed by three unknown suspects. The deceased was shot whilst in the company of his friends at a car wash at Manini village.

This reward follows three other rewards of up to two hundred and fifty thousand Rand (R250 000.00) which were recently issued for each of the murders that were committed in the same Cluster. The amount is calculated up to one million (R1000 000.00) for any information that can lead to the arrest and subsequent conviction of the suspects responsible for these serious crimes.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has since established a special Task Team to track down the killers of these taxi owners and bring them to book.

The motive behind this incident is not yet known at this stage but the ongoing police investigations will tell.

Anyone with information that can help the police to arrest the suspects involved in this murder, may contact Brigadier James Espach at 082 576 0744 or Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or Crime Line SMS 32211. The information received, will always be under high confidentiality.

The police investigations are still continuing.
