The Police in Tubatse outside Burgersfort have arrested a 25 year old man for murder and attempted murder which occurred in the early hours of this morning, 7 April 2018, at about 04:00 at Riba Cross village.

It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect were busy drinking beers at the local tavern when a fight ensued over a firearm which was in possession of the suspect. During that fight, the deceased was shot and died instantly and the other victim was struck by a stray bullet on the neck and taken to hospital for medical treatment.

The deceased was identified as Elmon Manana aged 35 from Riba Cross village. The suspect will appear before the Praktiseer Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 9 April 2018.

Meanwhile in Ritavi outside Tzaneen, the Police are investigating an inquest case after the body of an unknown person was found floating in Letaba river in a state of decomposition.

It is alleged that on 6 April 2018 during the day, the farm employees found the body of man who is around 40’s floating inside this river naked, they summoned the Police who reacted swiftly and started with the initial investigations.

The deceased is still unknown. The motive and cause of death is still unknown but the ongoing Police investigations including the autopsy will tell.
