The Polokwane High Court this week, sentenced Papi Simon Kgwale aged 24, to an effective 27 years imprisonment, for separate incidents of rape committed between 2015 and 2018, to three female victims aged between 13 and 32, around Tafelkop, in the Motetema policing area outside Groblersdal.

The first incident that was reported in February 2015, a 20 year old student was on her way to school when she was attacked by the accused who threatened her with a knife and raped her.

The second incident that was reported in April 2015, the accused attacked a 13 year old girl on her way to school, the accused threatened the young girl with a knife before dragging her to a secluded spot where he raped her.

The last incident, that took place in April 2018, the accused attacked a 32 year old woman on her way to work, threatened her with a knife and raped her.

All these cases were allocated to Detective Sergeant Robert Makola of the Groblersdal Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offence Unit (FCS), who responsively investigated them, ensuring justice prevails at the end.

The accused was also declared unfit to possess a firearm. The sentences were handed as follows:

Count 2 (rape) = 9 years, Count 5 (rape) = 9 years and Count 11(rape) = 9 years
