LIMPOPO — An urgent manhunt has been launched after a woman found murdered in a pit toilet in the Tshaulu area shocked the local community. Police in Thohoyandou are actively searching for a suspect sought in Tshaulu and the surrounding villages following the grim discovery of a 40-year-old victim’s body at her home in Ha-Lambani Mahagala.
Tragic Discovery at Rural Home
The horrific incident came to light on the morning of 19 July 2026. According to initial reports, family members made the gruesome discovery at approximately 11:40 inside a pit toilet located on the deceased’s residential property.
The victim’s body was found concealed under a blanket. Distraught family members immediately alerted the local community, prompting a rapid response from both the South African Police Service (SAPS) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel. Upon arrival, first responders successfully retrieved the body from the pit toilet.
Preliminary Investigations Reveal Severe Injuries
Following the recovery of the body, preliminary investigations at the scene revealed that the deceased had sustained severe, fatal injuries specifically to her face and head. A formal case of murder has officially been opened at the local police station.
Detectives acted swiftly on early leads and proceeded to the residence of a primary suspect. However, upon arrival, the individual was not at the premises. A widespread manhunt is now underway to trace and apprehend the fleeing suspect before he can evade justice.
