A 27 year old suspect has been arrested for an attempted murder incident that took place in Louis Trichardt on Saturday morning.
This arrest follows an incident in which the suspect allegedly drove through a red robot in the early hours of Saturday morning and the policeman, who was not on duty at the time, pursued him in his private vehicle.
The suspect shot and injured the member before crashing the stolen vehicle he was driving. It is believed the suspect was picked up by a certain Ford Ranger.
Today, 29-01-2017 the police received information about the suspect who was admitted in hospital. He possibly sustained injuries when the vehicle he was driving crashed during the chase. On arrival the police immediately effected an arrest.
The suspect is being linked to a number of cases in the province.
The Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba commended the manner in which the police and community members worked together on this case. “This swift arrest of one of the most wanted criminals in the province is a perfect display of community policing at its best. This arrest will go a long way in ridding our province of any acts of criminality.” Said General Ledwaba.
The suspect will appear in court soon.
