SIOC Community Development Trust Announces Board of Trustees Election Process

The SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) Board of Trustees Community Representatives Elections are set to take place on 9 and 10 April 2021. Independently managed by the Independent Elections Facilitators of Southern Africa (IEFSA), it will see the election of an additional two trustees to represent the Gamagara and Tsantsabane municipalities.

The preliminary list of nominated candidates standing for election in the SIOC-CDT Board of Trustees elections is as follows:
1. Mmoloki Walter Khumo, Gamagara
2. Wapad Jesmien Lizzane, Tsantsabane
3. Magopa Thabo, Gamagara
4. Malgas Andrew, Gamagara
5. Andreas Nico, Gamagara
6. Botha Sobuza Montgomery, Tsantsabane
7. Thipe Tebogo Sidney, Gamagara
8. Roux Leah Angeline Cornalia, Gamagara

Objections to any of the candidates listed above needs to be communicated directly to Wesley Maringa on 082 040 4064 or 012 994 4012 or via email: [email protected] by no later than 05 April 2021 at 18:00. The final candidates list will therefore be published 06th April 2021.

The voting process will take place on the 09th and 10thApril (electronically and manually) at various voting stations within the two local municipal areas (Tsantsabane and Gamagara).

The 09th April, however, is only for Special Voting (the elderly, people living with disabilities and by prior arrangement) while the 10th April is the official election day for all registered community members.

All stations will open from 07:00am until 19:00 on the 09th and 10th April 2021 at the following voting stations:

Gamagara Local Municipality:
• Babatas (Community Meeting Tent)
• Dibeng – Maria MasiloLeu Multi-Purpose Centre
• Sesheng/Mapoteng- Mapoteng Multi-Purpose Centre
• Olifantshoek – Ditloung Community Hal
• Kathu – Siyathemba Community Hall

Tsantsabane Local Municipality:
• Jean Haven – Jean Haven Community Hall
• Postdene- Postdene Community Hall
• Mountain View- Tent at Mountain View
• Boichoko – Ratang Thuto High School
• Groenwater – Groenwater Community Hall
• Maremane – Maremane Community Hall

Preliminary Elections results will be communicated on 10 April, with the required objection period running to 12 April and final elections results announced 15 April 2021.

Following strict protocols and governance, stakeholder roadshows were held within the Gamagara and Tsantsabane municipalities from the 15th – 19th March 2021 in both municipalities to provide an engagement platform for the beneficiary communities regarding the details of the upcoming Community Representatives Trustees Elections.

The process for the nomination of candidates ran from 22 March 2021 to 25 March 2021 (12h00). Online voter registration was held 22 March 2021 (07h00) until 28 March 2021 (00h00), with manual voter registration offered 27 March 2021 (09h00) to 28 March 2021 (17h00).
