Shop owner nabbed with R750k worth of illicit cigarettes, Lephalale

A 27-year-old suspect was arrested on the afternoon of 6 April 2020, for trading in illicit cigarettes. The arrest was effected during an operation that was conducted in the Lephalale CBD.

The police received information about the presence of illicit cigarettes that were being sold in one of the shops some few blocks from the police station.

On arrival at the said shop, illicit cigarettes to the estimated value of R750 000.00 were found packed in the storeroom and were confiscated.

The suspect will appear in Lephalale Magistrates’ court on Tuesday, 7 April 2020.
